 The Lords Prayer
TLPTLPTLPTLPTLPTLPTLPTLPTLP

Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.   Amen.

Lord, Make Us One - Series II - 02/28/99
We begin this session with the word "prayer."  Everything that Jesus did and said was born out of communion with the Father.  Therefore, if we are to be one with him, we must allow the Holy Spirit free course in our lives that we too can be in complete harmony with our Heavenly Father.

John 5:19 tells us that Jesus could have no special interest or action from the Father.  John 8:9 says did did always those things that pleased (in agreement with ) the Father.

Romans 8:7 states that "the carnal mind is enmity with God."  Verse 6 states to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

So then, it is obvious that God wants us to commune with him through his Holy Spirit and its leadership.  He wants us to be one with him in our thought life as well.  Proverbs 23:7 says, "As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.".

Beloved, it is of utmost importance that we learn to think upon those things that pleases our Heavenly Father as Paul states in Philippians 4:8.

As a pure mind enables us to reach out in prayer and convey to our Heavenly Father, our hearts desire and need.

God is concerned about our needs, and the battles we encounter daily.  He is always listening to our hearts' pleadings.  It may seem [at times] as though the Heavens are brass; but rest assured that God will answer accordingly.

Many times we fail God because we let the circumstances that come our way take our minds off of God's word.  We let the sounds about us infiltrate our minds and the result often causes us to doubt as to whether or not God really cares about us.  He does care, and he is concerned about the smallest need.   Now, the only way you can attain to that state of mind is through prayer (communication), and talking to Him and also listening to what he has to say concerning the matter at hand.

Isaiah 55:8-9 speaks to our hearts concerning the contrast between the carnal thinking of man and God's thoughts.  Jeremiah 29:11 speaks of God's thoughts toward us is only good, and not evil, thoughts of peace, to give you an expected end.

We must seek with all our heart.  Now this business of giving our all is what will get the results we need.  This may sound a bit cruel but this is the strategy of the enemy to take your mind to some degree away from complete submission in prayer.

Martin Luther said, "...to pray diligently is more than half the task.  But half the answer is not an answer.  We must pray until."

Beloved, God is concerned but you've got to put in action your faith.  This can only develop to the point it needs to be in our life as we talk with him daily.

In Conclusion
In closing, let me say that our thought patterns must comply with God's word if we are to be successful.

E.M. Bounds taught that, "God does not bestow his gifts on the casual or hasty "comers and goers."  Much with God alone is the secret of knowing him and of influence with him.

Elijah prayed for rain out of a cloudless sky seven (7) times in succession before his answer came.  It did come.

Beloved, this is the hour when your faith in God will be tested as never before.  Paul tells us in I Corinthians 13:11 that when he was a child he spake, thought and understood as a child, but the day came when he put away childish things.  Paul became a man in his thinking.  He also practiced what he preached.  II Corinthians 10:5 he [Paul] tells us that we must bring every thought into the captivity to the obedience of Christ.  Remember, John 5:19, go back and meditate upon this.

Beloved, our God is an ever present help in a time of need. Do you need his help today?  Talk to him for he's but a prayer away.  Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and that door will open.

May the peace of our God that passes all knowledge safeguard your hearts.  Until next Sunday,

In Service of Him,
Rev. Golden
